One of Pakistan's most photographed natural wonders awaits. Lake Saiful Malook sits at an elevation of 3,224 meters and is accessible only by 4×4 jeep — adding to its sense of remote magic. The lake is named after a prince from an ancient Persian fairy tale, and its ethereal blue-green waters surrounded by glaciers and snowfields make it feel like a place from another world.

Created in 2010 by a massive landslide, this brilliant turquoise lake stretches 21km through the Karakoram. Boat rides are available and the color of the water is almost impossibly vivid — one of Pakistan's most photographed spots.

Day 9— Hunza to Skardu
September 4, 2026  •  ~6 Hours Drive on the KKH
This spectacular drive follows the Karakoram Highway deep into Gilgit-Baltistan, tracing the mighty Indus River through ancient gorges and past sheer rock faces thousands of meters high. Stop at Astag for photos and refreshments before the final descent into the Skardu valley — a wide, dramatic highland basin ringed by some of the highest mountains on Earth, including K2 and Broad Peak visible on clear days.

Day 10— Mantoka Waterfall & the Cold Desert

Mantoka Waterfall
Hidden in a narrow gorge near Skardu, Mantoka Waterfall is a dramatic cascade of glacial meltwater thundering over ancient rocks. The lush greenery surrounding the fall contrasts vividly with the arid mountain landscape, creating a surprisingly beautiful oasis. Trek to the base for the full force of the falls.
The Cold Desert (Katpana Desert)
One of the highest cold deserts in the world, Katpana Desert sits at 2,226 meters with golden sand dunes surrounded by snow-capped peaks — a surreal and unique landscape found nowhere else on Earth. Day 11 — Deosai Plains: The Land of Giants

At an average elevation of 4,114 meters, Deosai National Park is the second highest plateau on Earth and one of Pakistan's most extraordinary natural wonders. The park is home to the endangered Himalayan Brown Bear, snow leopards, and over 300 bird species. The vast, open plains — carpeted with wildflowers in summer — stretch endlessly toward the horizon under an enormous blue sky.
Satpara Lake
A stunning freshwater lake on the edge of Skardu, fed by glaciers and surrounded by pine forests — a serene start to the day.
Kala Pani
"Black Water" — a mysterious dark-colored stream running through the Deosai Plains, fed by unique mineral-rich soils.
Bara Pani
